Dakota Hemp is already running this plant in Wakonda, South Dakota, on a Canadian Greenfield HempTrain. The proven rate is 2,000 pounds of stalk an hour. The nameplate is 3,000. Cleaned hurd leaves that mill at $0.60 a pound, in 15 lb and 30 lb bags and in 400 lb totes. Kentucky is the first copy, at Lexington, because Keeneland, Red Mile, and Churchill sit on top of 4,800 planted hemp acres. Every other pin on the map is the same machine in a different barn country.
A copy opens for about $5,192,000 to $6,692,000. That is the $3,500,000 train CGT states as its value, plus $1,500,000 to $3,000,000 to put a 19-foot building, power, yard, and racking around it, plus $192,000 so the mill can buy 60 days of stalk at the USDA fiber price of $0.20 a pound. It does not include CGT’s $5 to $7 million territory license, and it does not include buying land. Lease the building. The license is a different product. Ask for a machine-only quote.
If that mill runs one shift, eight hours, 200 days, and 70 percent of the stalk comes out as hurd, it makes about 2,240,000 pounds of hurd. Sold at Dakota’s $0.60 price, that is $1,344,000 a year. File the state processor license on a real address. In Kentucky that application is free online. Lease an industrial building with 19 feet of clear height and a path to 175 kVA at 480 volts. The train itself sits on less than 2,200 square feet. The rest of the building is bales, bags, a dock, and a small office. Canadian Greenfield installs the line, commissions it, and trains the crew. Dakota’s own train was assembled in five and a half days and then climbed to 2,000 pounds an hour.
One shift is six people: someone on the bales, someone on the line, someone bagging, someone on the forklift, a shift lead, and one person on grower contracts and barn orders. CGT does not publish a headcount. These are the stations the machine requires. Trucks are hired, not bought, inside the 100-mile radius Dakota already uses. Spent bedding comes back to a compost pad on its own permit. Dakota’s window for that pile is six to nine months. The pad is not inside the train price.
